Urban Design

A sculptural statement

With these sculptural pieces Ross recognises the role of natural landforms as cherished childhood settings which are vulnerable to insensitive commercial development.

Wabi Sabi Bowls

‘Imperfection as beauty’

So-named as the first design which emerged through Annie’s Shinto readings of ‘imperfection as beauty’, and was a significant step in distilling for her a new style of working. It has become a signature pattern.

Bird Jugs

‘Frozen movement’

As with birds, these may appear similar at a distance yet distinctly individual when in the hand. Through their exaggerated contours (throw lines) they beautifully demonstrate the ‘frozen movement’ Ross expresses in his wheel throwing, creating those inimitable individual shapes we find so endearing. We have keas, turkeys and owls, but come and name your own.

Ringing Bowls

Tribute to the Tibetan ringing bowl

Ross’s tribute to the Tibetan ringing bowl, these concave forms emit a distinctive sound. Both sculptural and functional they vary in glaze, colour and finish.

Banquet Platters

Bohemian celebration

With their scale, texture, colour, mystery and opulence, these large platters suggest a cornucopia - medieval feasts, Elizabethan roasts, bohemian celebration. Free form and velvet smooth, organic and individual, oval or round, they are also available in a smaller scale range of square plates, little dishes and tankards.

Orange Grove

Our newest

Evocative of the Villa Livia frescoes of Pompeii, William Morris and medieval tapestries, this series is our newest, with an exciting variety of scale and texture - in form and also decoration.

French Influenced

Classic slip trailing patterns

Ross decorates large bowls, water pitchers and gourmet platters (oversized dinner plates) with two classic slip trailing patterns inspired by his Vallauris sojourn in France.

Stoneware

Classic and earthy

A departure from our glossy midrange firing, this new series showcases Ross’s hallmark throwing in the softer hues of nature.
